Course description

Academy AP Microeconomics is designed to be the equivalent of one semester introductory college-level microeconomics course. This course introduces students to the principles of economics that apply to the functions of individual economic decision-makers. It also develops students? familiarity with the operation of product and factor markets; distributions of income; market failure; and the role of government in promoting greater efficiency and equity in the economy. Students learn to use graphs; charts; and data to analyze; describe; and explain economic concepts. This course includes financial literacy and personal financial management. Students who complete this course are encouraged to take the Advanced Placement Exam in microeconomics. Mastery is demonstrated by taking the Advanced Placement Microeconomics Exam in May.
