This course has already been approved as a lab science. This is simply a name change from Applied Biological Systems to Agriculture Education II. It is to align with sequence existing courses offered in the District (Agriculture Education I and III and IV).
Agriculture Education II Spring 2015 Syllabus
• FFA: The agriscience program is co-curricular in conjunction with the National FFA Organization. As such a portion of students’ grades is directly related to active participation in the Desert Edge FFA Chapter. There will be several opportunities for students to earn points throughout the semester. If for any reason students are unable to attend enough of the opportunities to earn their points each quarter then a meeting must be called between the student, parents, and instructor. Students are expected to earn 300 FFA Points per semester – please see list of how many FFA points each activity is worth.
• SAE’s: Supervised Agricultural Experience- each student enrolled in agricultural education is required to have a project in which they are involved with and must maintain records of their times with their project. Project are individualized and will be determined based on students’ interests and means. SAEs must fall within approved agricultural areas. Pictures of the student doing their SAE is required throughout the semester. SAEs can be entrepreneurship or placement (working for someone) – placement can be paid or unpaid.
