Course title

Course description

We use Exploring Creation with Biology by Dr. Jay Wile which provides a serious study of biology. In addition the student also reads Darwin's Black Box by Michael Behe and Humani Generis in order to consider the theory of evolution. Apologia also provides a Solutions and Tests Manual for the main text in addition to the study questions throughout the book. The Biology Syllabus has a day-by-day breakdown of this course along with paper topics and a variety of teaching resources including Eleventh Grade Subject Rubrics, Learning Objectives, and grading charts. Student must complete at least one in-person (not virtual) lab from the syllabus to earn credit for this course. This is a 1 year, 1 credit course. The syllabus also contains optional lab assignments which the student may complete for an additional ½ credit of Biology Lab. Student must do real (not virtual) microscope and dissection labs. There are two ways in which a separate (1/2 credit maximum) Biology Lab can be earned. 1) Student may do 18 minimum labs, writing up each one of them. This has been deemed to be equivalent to 1/2 credit. OR 2) Student may do more than 18 labs, and maintain a log of hours, completing at least one lab write-up, so that the combination of labs + lab-write-ups consists of a minimum of 60 hours.
