Course description

This course examines the concepts that explain how living organisms and systems work. Students will use scientific inquiry, written assignments, interactive labs, and assessments to develop a thorough understanding of cellular biology, genetics, heredity, the chemistry of life, physiology, and ecology. AG NGSS Biology A and B meets the Grades 9-12 life science graduation requirement and one year of the University of California ā€˜dā€™ entrance requirement for laboratory science. This course covers 6 units to include introduction to life, cellular structure and function, genetics and heredity, natural selection, body systems, ecology. One wet lab and write-up is required per unit. Students are expected to spend a minimunm of 3-5 hours per week in the class with an additional 1-2 hours of assigned homework per week.
