Biology II is an advanced second year of Biology/lab science.† This course is offered to 11th and 12th grade students. The students must have completed Biology and Investigative Science.† Biology II is designed to help students to understand the practical application of advanced biology.† Students will be engaged in hands-on activities; projects; and labs; as well as participate in class discussions and presentations.†† Students will investigate systems and history of classification including cladistics and phylogeny emphasizing a link between evolution and classification.† Topics will also include geologic time; plant and fungus anatomy and physiology.† Infectious diseases (bacteria and viruses) will be studied and this study will include an in-depth investigation of antibiotic resistance and vaccines.† Students will also use dissection as a means to understand the anatomy and physiology of the animal kingdom; with strong emphasis on human anatomy and physiology.
