Course description

This is an introductory course in biological sciences. The central theme of this course is scientific investigation and the concepts of change and diversity. Students will acquire a knowledge base in: scientific process; introduction to ecology; population ecology; energy and matter; homeostasis; molecular genetics; genetics and inheritance; and evolution. Every unit has assignments; quizzes; a lab; a writing assignment; and a unit test. In this course your primary medium of learning is the computer. Although the computer limits your ability to participate in groups and experience the smells and sounds of a science lab; the units will include a lab and/or a research component which may be a kitchen-type lab using household products; a virtual lab; or an activity/presentation.
