Chemistry
Course Description:
Chemistry involves studying the composition; properties; and reactions of substances. This includes such concepts as: the behaviors of solids; liquids; and gases; acid/base and oxidation/reduction reactions; and atomic structure. Chemical formulas and equations and nuclear reactions are also studied. The Science Department at ORCA is committed to Scientific Inquiry.† We are able to work with Scientific Inquiry through Simulations; Live Class; Hands-On Experiments; and In Person Labs.† Students in all classes are expected to be able to formulate a hypothesis and conduct and experiment to collect data that supports or contradicts that hypothesis.† Students work through a wide range of models and experiments to explore the concepts of each class.
†
This course includes a laboratory requirement with live/synchronous laboratory opportunities.†
