Course description

This course focuses on realistic problem-solving necessary for courses in other fields (i.e. biology; chemistry; business; economics) as well as a strong preparation for a calculus series. Students will be introduced to mathematical modeling based on the use of elementary functions to describe and explore real-world phenomena and data. Linear; exponential; logarithmic; polynomial and other function models are examined closely and are applied to real-world data supported by the use of technology. Students also extend their algebraic understanding to new and multidimensional forms such as vectors; matrices; polar and parametric equations.
