Students will study and apply the concepts and genres of literature as they read selections from across time periods and cultures. Students will apply grammar rules and acquire new vocabulary, while analyzing classic and contemporary fiction and nonfiction texts and composing narrative, expository, and argumentative writings. English Language Development is a focus of this course. Both the Arizona Academic Standards and English Language Proficiency Standards are used as the basis for instruction.
