English Language Arts EL 3-4 is designed to deliver targeted support to sophomore and junior high school students who need improvement in both reading and writing with an emphasis on composition and grammar. This course builds upon the standards taught in English Language Arts EL 1-2. This course uses a wide range of texts from a variety of genres to teach and improve reading skills with a focus on American and world literature. This course also improves academic vocabulary and discourse. English Language Arts EL 3-4 uses high leverage standards to support success on Arizona state assessments and end-of-course exams within the scope and sequence and has an emphasis on composition in argumentative essay writing.
