Environmental Biology Course Description This class is part of the University of Arizona Community and School Garden SEEC (Supporting Environmental Education and Communities) Program. Students will participate in citizen science research programs involving the Biosphere 2 agrivoltaics school garden and Natures Notebook phenology plant data collection. Students will develop their own research question and methods, conduct data collection, and analyze results for citizen science research projects and other experiments. Student findings are compiled into poster presentations and an art gallery exhibit for public presentations.
Students will study Sonoran Desert ecology and biodiversity. Issues facing humans will be explored including: population growth, water resources, energy production, and food production. Human impact on the environment will be stressed through out the course. Emphasis is placed on observation skills and participation.
