Course description

This course is an introduction to the process of filmmaking. This project-based; hands-on class is geared towards students who are interested in learning the technical and visual skills utilized by filmmakers. Students will learn how to create short films that focus on telling stories using visual elements and principles; in addition to learning how to use digital cameras and editing software. Students will work both collaboratively and individually with an emphasis on visual and aesthetic composition; camera knowledge and techniques; lighting; editing; and sound effects. This class is available to students from all grade levels; who have met one or more of the prerequisites. Students who enroll in this course may be interested in deepening their study of film through Film as Literature or Film Production.
