Advanced Algebra with Financial Applications is a collegepreparatory course that uses sophisticated mathematics tobecome financially responsible. The course employs advancedalgebra, probability and statistics to solve financial problemsoccurring in everyday life. Inquiry-based problem unitsinvolving investing, credit, banking, auto insurance, mortgages,employment, income taxes, budgeting and planning forretirement are solved by applying the relevant mathematics.Field projects, computer spreadsheets and graphing calculatorsare key components of the course. Students will apply theCommon Core Mathematical Practice Standards when solvingproblems and completing performance tasks.
Financial Algebra is approved by UCOP to meet "c" mathematics "a-g" requirements.
