Course description

Financial Literacy is an advanced 4th year mathematics course with a prerequisite of Algebra II; Honors Algebra II; or Accelerated Algebra II/Pre-Calculus. The course is algebra-based; with an emphasis on real world application and hands-on technology. Through the utilization of college-preparatory topics such as Algebra; Pre-Calculus; Probability; and Statistics; students will gain the tools necessary to become financially responsible. Units of study include: employment; budgets; banking accounts; investments; taxes; credit; loans; insurance; interest payments; automobile ownership; stocks and bonds; and life expenses. Content will align directly to the following Arizona Mathematics Standards: A-CED.1; A-CED.2; A-CED.4; A-REI.1; A-REI.3; A-SSE.1; A-SSE.3; F-BF.1; F-IF.2; F-IF.4; F-IF.7; F-IF.8; F-LE.1; N-Q.1; N-Q.2; N-Q.3; S-ID.1; S-ID.2; and S-ID.6.
