Students must be in 11th grade and there is a requisite for an honors course which is detailed below.
Course description

The Fire Service program focuses on the principles, theory, and practices associated with the management of fire operations, firefighting services, and community fire issues. The Fire Service program includes instruction in fire protection history and theory, incident command leadership, administration of public fire organizations, labor relations, emergency medical services management, fire emergency response strategies and mitigation, legal and regulatory responsibilities, budgeting, public relations, and organizational leadership.
The Fire Service program is delivered as a coherent sequence of courses designed to offer students knowledge and skills that meet the needs of the workplace. The Professional Skills developed by business and industry leaders across Arizona are integrated throughout the program. Fire Service students develop leadership, social, civic, and career skills through participation in the state-recognized Career and Technical Student Organization, SkillsUSA. The Fire Service instructional program prepares students for entry-level employment, further training, and/or postsecondary education for these and other occupations: Firefighter, Wildlife Firefighter, and EMT.
Requisites for honors classification:
Students must also be enrolled in two other core honors classes and students are expected to maintain a letter grade of “B” or higher to stay in the Optional Honors area of this class.
