Course description

Forensic Science is an elective science course for upper-level students. This course focuses on the skills and concepts behind physical aspects of crime scene investigation and forensic science. The fields of biology, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, physics, and earth science are utilized to combine basic scientific concepts with critical thinking skills and technology. Detailed observation techniques and analysis of information are stressed in this hands-on STEM laboratory course. Coursework includes the study of trace evidence such as hair and fibers, fingerprints, impressions and glass, and ballistics. Students will also study forensic toxicology, blood and blood spatter, DNA analysis, cause of death, entomology, and anthropology.
