Honors Biology
Course Description: †
Biology is designed to provide information regarding the fundamental concepts of life and life processes. The honors course involves a more advanced and in-depth approach to each topic requiring a strong background in introductory chemistry (Physical Science A) and prerequisite introductory algebra.† Topics include (but are not restricted to): cell structure and function; general plant and animal physiology; evolution; genetics; and taxonomy. † The Science Department at ORCA is committed to Scientific Inquiry.† We are able to work with Scientific Inquiry through Simulations; Live Class; Hands-On Experiments; and In Person Labs.† Students in all classes are expected to be able to formulate a hypothesis and conduct and experiment to collect data that supports or contradicts that hypothesis.† Students work through a wide range of models and experiments to explore the concepts of each class.
†
This course includes a laboratory requirement with live/synchronous laboratory opportunities.
