Course description

This course will explore a detailed studies approach to works written in English in which students examine a variety of genres and themes. Skills focus on close reading techniques; language effects; written literary analysis and oral commentary. Literacy pieces include British and American classics as well as works written by modern authors from a variety of backgrounds. Through a variety of literary genres; students will examine international works for theme; cultural influences; and the human experience. Literary analysis; social criticism and comparative analysis will also be emphasized.
