Course description

This intensive composition course focuses on professional writing in English with a strong emphasis on journalistic style and format that includes information analysis and organization, and transforming facts into concise, clear grammatically appropriate prose. Students will implement the entire writing process, from reading research, gathering evidence, refining drafts, revision, editing, and publication. The course also includes practical training in interviewing to ensure speaking and listening standards along with discourse around news ethics, photography, design layout, production, and circulation of the school publication. Literary genres covered include fiction, nonfiction, historical documents, biographies, autobiographies, and essays, serving as both reading material and inspiration for journalistic content.
