Course description

Literature and Ethics for Public Health is a year long English course for 12th graders as related to the Health Science and Medical Technology pathways (STEM). Course may be the English component to a medical pathway in science classes. Content will include the ELA Common Core Standards integrated with career preparedness, while also focusing on communication as it relates to our global world. Students will be exposed to rigorous 12th grade literature while discussing what it means to be part of the healthcare field in America, through interaction with deeper texts and analysis. The class focuses closely on ethics bias in the medical field and the way future doctors may interact with their patients.
