This course explores cinema through its historical and aesthetic contexts. Through practical filmmaking assignments and film studies; students foster a deeper understanding of cinema arts. From making individually directed one-minute films; to larger scale group productions and live studio broadcasts; students explore a broad scope of media production. In addition; this course examines the exciting history of media; its changing role in society; and the different ways in which vital information is transmitted to the public. Students are actively engaged in critical thinking through immersive†filmmaking and media analysis.†
