Course description

Meteorology is a single semester course for 0.5 credits. Students will explore multiple facets of meteorology through learner-focused lessons and hands-on activities that are designed to amplify their unique gifts and talents, and encourage the construction of new insights in this fascinating area of Earth Science. Topics covered will include atmospheric studies, the science behind weather phenomena, severe weather, weather photography, the use of drones and/or weather balloons as research tools, and more. An emphasis will be on using clues found in weather patterns, clouds, and other atmospheric phenomena to solve meteorological mysteries, or to make predictions through weather and climate models. This course will also focus on fostering environmental stewardship, the application of problem solving techniques and engineering principles to atmospheric studies, building cooperative relationships, and developing science literacy and practice skills.
