Course title

Physical Science

Pre-requisite

Algebra 1-2

Course description

Physical Science is a year-long exploration of the Essential Physics Standards and Essential Earth & Space Science Standards that relate to matter and energy flow on Earth & in the universe. Students enrolled in this course will:∑ examine how different forces act on an object to predict the motion of an object in one dimension∑ apply the laws of physics to explain how gravitational forces affect astronomical bodies∑ explain the origin; expansion; and scale of the universe

On average; students will spend 2 hours per week doing lab activities. Examples of labs include:

? Buggy Lab

? Motion Detector Lab

? Acceleration Lab

? Motion Detector Lab

? Acceleration due to Gravity Lab

? Force Lab

? Friction Lab

? Orbit Lab

? Kinetic Energy Lab

? Gravitational Energy Lab

? Wave Intro Lab

? Spectroscopy

? Doppler Effect Lab
