This course is designed to prepare students for future high school science courses with an introduction to a variety of topics such as the physics of motion, chemistry, matter, organisms, and energy. Students will learn and practice experimental procedures using household chemicals and supplies. Students will complete several research projects on the periodic table, climate, and cybersecurity. Students will apply scientific ideas learned as they design a game and build models and projects related to cellular respiration, motion, energy, and the environment.
This course has a lab component.
NOTE for Honors: Physical Science Honors (PHSC150) is an enriched version of PHSC100. The supplemental reading and activities in the Honors course allow students the opportunity to reinforce their learning as they gain a deeper understanding of the material. Students are supported by the teacher and by the lessons themselves as they work through the course. Students in the Honors course can expect an average of 1-2 hours of work per week in addition to the regular course content.
