Course description

In this post-AP course; students will engage in a Socratic seminar -- interdisciplinary and interactive in nature -- that offers students a fundamental primer on the essential concerns of literary thought. Students will explore three perennial questions --"What is true? What is good? What is beautiful?" Students will read works representing complementary/contrasting exemplars of world-shaking ideas: Plato/Aristotle; Freud/Jung; and Picasso/Warhol. Through written assignments; students will practice rhetorical analysis learned in AP English Language and literary criticism learn in AP English Literature.
