Course description

This course is designed to inspire students with an interest in chemistry and how it relates to earth science. Students will explore six units that vary in topics such as how energy is transferred in our food and our planet, classic chemistry topics like how atoms and elements react, and environmental issues of climate change and ocean acidification. The math and science skills we will build will include the following: Know how to convert from one unit to another using algebra’s cross multiplication Know how to plot a simple scatter plot and how to interpret it. Know how to work with very small or large numbers by using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in scientific notation / standard form. How to use log transformations in determining the acidity of a chemical.
