Sports Medicine I

Sports medicine is an area of health that applies medical and scientific knowledge to prevent, recognize, manage, and rehabilitate injuries related to sports, recreational activity, or exercise. This course provides an opportunity to study sports medicine including but not limited to: sports medicine related careers, organizational and administrative considerations, prevention of athletic injuries, recognition, evaluation, immediate care of athletic injures, rehabilitation skills, taping and wrapping techniques, first aid/CPR, emergency procedures, nutrition, sports psychology, human anatomy and physiology, therapeutic modalities, and therapeutic exercise. Multiple laboratory activities are included.
