Course description

This course introduces you to sustainability–a set of principles and practices dedicated to improving human well-being and ensuring social equity for present and future generations while safeguarding the planet’s life-supporting ecosystems. We will cover major challenges for sustainability (including climate change, food and agriculture, urbanization, and population), and impacts on local, regional, national, and global scales. Through the readings and course discussions, we will emphasize the trade-offs and other key concepts of sustainability that are inherent in policies, decision-making, and actions to promote a sustainable future. Course content will also be connected to your everyday life, so that you come to understand how everyone can contribute to building a sustainable future for all.
