Course description

Filmmaking 1-2 - Students will learn the fundamentals of fiction and non-fiction filmmaking such as storyboarding; script writing; composition; manual video camera techniques; as well as iMovie and Final Cut Pro. Projects will require students to conduct work outside of class and in the community. Students will also be introduced to the different components of running televised morning announcements. Students enrolled in this class will have opportunities to enter their work in film festivals; competitions; and become members of our Filmmaking CTSO. All projects given in class will be modeled after industry projects and have a fine arts emphasis of storytelling and filmmaking.

Filmmaking 3-4 - This is a 2 hour block class in which students will conduct and manage the morning announcements; client projects; and produce creative films for entry into film festivals. Projects will require students to work in and outside of class. Students will use Mini HDV; and 3CCD cameras in addition to post-production video; audio; and motion graphic editing in Final Cut Pro. Students enrolled in this class will have opportunities to travel and compete in filmmaking competitions across the state as well as be members in our Filmmaking CTSO. At the end of the year students will produce a professional demo reel of their work and present ntheir films in a local high school film festival. All projects given in class will be modeled after industry projects and have a fine arts emphasis on storytelling and filmmaking.
