Course title
APPre-requisite
Honors BiologyCourse description
This is an integrated lecture/laboratory approach to AP biology. Although you will continue to build a foundation of factual knowledge; concepts will be emphasized and will be reinforced using critical thinking and hands-on laboratory activities. Topics will include molecules and cells; heredity and evolution; organisms and populations; including ecology.
The above topics will be integrated throughout the course using the eight major themes as outlined by the AP Biology Curriculum Requirements.
? Science as process
? Evolution
? Energy transfer
? Continuity and change
? Relationship of structure to function
? Regulation
? Interdependence in nature
? Science; technology and society
There are two major goals of AP Biology: (1) to enable students to develop an understanding of the principal concepts in biology and (2) to experience science as a process. Evolution will form the foundation of our course and will be integrated through all units. As Theodosius Dobzhansky stated; ?Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution.?
