Course description

The Photo Imaging class is designed to provide students with a basic working knowledge of digital photographic technique; theory; and history. Students will learn how to use digital cameras in a variety of situations and for a variety of purposes; including action; nature; still-life and portraits. They will also develop the skills to photograph in low-light situations. Students will have the opportunity to create works that demonstrate their creativity through the exploration of various fields and movements within photography. They will gain and demonstrate knowledge of how to constructively critique their own work and that of their peers. Students will be introduced to digital manipulation techniques and software; including AdobeÆ PhotoshopÆ. Additionally; they will begin to develop their own sense of style while learning how to display and archive their work and create personal and professional portfolios. Students will also learn the fundamentals of art; the history of photography and study famous photographers; their works; and their styles.
