Music Exploration

In this course students will explore the language and basic elements of music by doing the things a musician does; he/she creates; performs; listens; describes; and values music. Emphasis in this course is on (1) learning to critically listen to selected landmarks of music and the roles they play within the wider context of history and society (2) learning the skills of music-making; its notation and vocabulary and (3) surveying the chronology of style periods in Western music.

Each student will develop and present individual learning project and participate in a final project (course of study) in this class.
