This one-year course is created to be an introductory course in digital imaging. Students begin with the theory & history behind modern graphic communications & move to the skillful combining of images and text that become the core of this course. Through demonstrations and hands on work students learn to solve visual problems using Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Imageready. This "hands on" experience is the key to success in this environment. From postage stamps to giant billboards; graphic design is everywhere. Typography; image; space; color; and form are elements used as this course progresses. Understanding how to apply basic design concepts to the presentation of informative or persuasive material is crucial to communicating with an audience. Successful completion of this course allows entry into the Graphic Design program.
