Course description

This class is a continuation of the principles of film covered in Film Study I and II. This course focuses particularly upon films created during the 1990?s to the present with a special focus upon the technology that changed forever how we view motion pictures. The students will expand their mastery of film vocabulary and concepts while learning to formulate rich interpretations in analysis through written and verbal critiques. The students will continue to study the elements of the art of filmmaking including the narrative form; cinematography; lighting; editing and sound. The students will apply the cultural aspects
of film to their own experiences and relate these to the growth and continued success of the film industry. Through these studies the students will be able to understand on a deeper level how their own reactions to and interpretation of film have an impact upon their overall film going experience. This course delves into the historical; technical and societal aspects of film making.
