Prerequisites: All students who wish to enroll in college level composition must take a placement test at the Community College which will help determine the appropriate English Course.

Course description

This course is designed to fulfill the District and State curriculum requirements; as well as prepare the students for college-level writing assignments. The first semester of this course has an emphasis on rhetoric and composition with a focus on expository writing and understanding writing as a process. Students will master effective college-level writing strategies through four or more writing projects comprising at least 3;000 words. The second semester of this course emphasizes rhetoric and composition with a focus on persuasive; research-based writing; and understanding writing as a process. Students develop advanced college-level writing strategies through three or more writing projects comprising at least 4;000 words.
