Course description

This course is a performance based program is designed to provide students higher levels of ability with musical instruction and advanced experiences; which will include note reading; picking; strumming and chord progressions. Students will be provided various styles and genres of music and will perform in both large group and small ensembles. Solo performances are expected.
Grade Level: 8-12
Entrance Requirements: Grade of B or higher in Guitar 1-2; Qualify on Placement Rubric Mandatory performances evenings and possibly weekends – Ability to attend occasional night and weekend practices – Must provide/purchase specific concert attire
Materials: Essential Elements for Guitar by Will Schmidt and Bob Morris. Acoustic guitar and method book must be provided by the student (nylon strings preferred).
