Course description

This course surveys the human experience from a global perspective with a primary focus on the millennia of the Common Era. Using a humanities-based approach; students explore the themes of Power; Migration; Technology and Human Rights within specific case-studies from a wide variety of times and places. The role of physical and cultural geography is addressed within the themes as a factor that drives human interaction within and across regions and time periods. Students will develop their ability as communicators of historical content by focusing on close; critical reading of primary and secondary sources and further development of expository and historical narrative writing attuned to a given rhetorical situation.
