Course description

This course engages students as critical readers; writers; and thinkers in the study of the history and culture of the United States. Recognizing history as an active entity that influences the present; students will analyze the past as a way to understanding the present. Using a humanities-based approach; students will conduct analysis incorporating increasingly complex primary and secondary sources with an emphasis on understanding American culture and its development over time. Students will demonstrate their abilities as communicators of historical content in a variety of forms and with a focus on assessing historical interpretations.
