Course description

Spanish 1-2 is a foundational course that studies the Spanish language through the major facets of modern language learning. Students will examine and interpret authentic written and spoken communication form a variety of media with a focus on Spanish from Spain; Guatemala; Argentina; Cuba; Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Students will learn and begin to implement communication strategies in authentic situations such as dialogue; interviews; original stories; and travel scenarios. This course will focus on cultures in the above mentioned countries through the elements of holidays; food; education; artifacts; customs; dialects and more. Throughout the year; the students will gain confidence to use basic grammar; vocabulary and cultural awareness within the classroom as well as in settings beyond school.
