This course will continue to build on the foundational skills mastered in Spanish 1-2 as described in Spanish 3-4 but with a greater level of depth of vocabulary; grammar and text complexity. Students taking this curse are being prepared to continue the study of Spanish beyond the high school requirement. This course is delivered exclusively in the target language and therefore students are expected to expand on previously learned communication strategies and to communicate exclusively in Spanish on a variety of familiar and unfamiliar topics. Students will be expected to solve real life problems in the target language and justify their solutions through spoken and written communication. Through the study of Mexico and the Hispanic influence on the Regions of the United States; students will utilize their knowledge of the language to discuss cultural elements such as food; architecture; family structure; health care systems; traditions and more. Throughout the year; students will be expected to apply language skills and cultural awareness outside of the school environment.
