Course description

This course is taught exclusively in Spanish and is designed for the motivated student who is seeking accelerated language acquisition. Students must demonstrate proficiency in reading; writing; speaking; listening; and presenting utilizing basic and intermediate grammar and accurate pronunciation and spelling. Through the study of Spain and Central America; students will utilize all current and previous knowledge of the language to research; and prepare ideas on currents events; literature; art; history; customs and more to use in presentations and class discussions. Students will read and analyze texts such as poems; short stories; essays and songs to create written response that demonstrate mastery of an intermediate level of written communication. Throughout the year; students must be motivated to apply their language skills and cultural awareness outside of the school environment.
