Course description

The Drawing Portfolio student will have the opportunity to gain knowledge of a very board interpretation of drawing issues and media. Possible concentration topics is infinite. Students will be challenged by providing analysis; interpretation and evaluation of their work.

Students will learn the specifics (issues) of line quality; light and shade; rendering of form; composition; surface manipulation; the illusion of depth and mark-making. This is accomplished through a variety of means including painting; printmaking and or mixed media. (Digital or photographic processes are accepted however; they must address the drawing issues previously listed.) Students will submit actual portfolios in one or more media. The chosen visual ideas should be explored to the greatest possible extent combining theory and critical thinking. Student work should be on a flat surface; such as paper; cardboard; canvas board of unstretched canvas.
