Course description

This course is the equivalent to a first year college course in algebra-based Physics. Advanced Placement Physics is a full-year course for students who wish to pursue a college level Physics course in high school. The course covers Newtonian Mechanics (including rotational dynamics and angular momentum); work; energy; and power; mechanical waves and sound; thermodynamics; electricity and magnetism; optics; atomic and nuclear Physics. Students enrolled in this class are expected to take the college board advanced placement (AP) Physics B exam. Exam scores; and each college/university; will determine eligibility for college credit.
