Course description

Following state standards and based on the ideas of gifted education; GATE English 12 is a class emphasizing a mixture of rigorous class work and enrichment through projects and thoughtful creations of ideas and responses to class work. Through multi-genre projects; multiple intelligence activities; and extensions involving the past; present; and future; students will show what they know from a range of reading; writing; speaking; and thinking experiences. Students will be encouraged to demonstrate originality and inventiveness in their work; make complex choices and decisions; and understand the interconnectedness of systems. Students will collaborate and work with diverse teams while taking on various roles and responsibilities in their learning. Students will also be encouraged to monitor their own understanding and participate in self assessment activities.
