Course description

In this course students learn to identify parts of plants and their functions; learn the steps in classifying plants and describe plant reproduction; learn to use biotechnology in plant growth and reproduction. Part of this curriculum is taught in the classroom; while the majority is taught in the field for hands on learning experience. Students observe laboratory procedures and safety measure and are expected to test the salinity; pH; and oxygen levels in water and soil; address issues presented with plant growth and reproduction with specimens brought into the classroom and in various parts of the school campus and Greenhouse; address and implement strategies for management of pests associated with agricultural production; discuss and design models for sustainable food production; and manage natural resources for the purpose of stable production of agricultural products.
