Course description

This is the first of a two-year course designed to meet the requirements for the International Baccalaureate Program. Basic biological concepts will be covered in sufficient detail to include global context that will stimulate and challenge students. It is important to see the connections between the themes and topics studied in Biology and the other sciences. The eight major themes will be explored during the year which includes Science as a Process; Evolution; Energy transfer; Continuity and Change; Relationship of Structure to Function; Regulation; Interdependence in Nature and Science; and Technology and Society. Class time will be allocated to lecture/discussion and laboratory components.
