Course description

The focus of this course is the examination of classical works from world literature and American drama. Through a variety of literary genres; students will examine international works for theme; cultural influences; and the human experience. Literary analysis; social criticism and comparative analysis will also be emphasized. Student will practice written commentary on both examined and
unexamined pieces; preparing them for compulsory IB exams: two comparative studies of 1000-1500 words; a written commentary on an unseen text; and a written response to a series of
curriculum-specific questions. This course is part of the IB Diploma Programme. NOTE: This is a weighted course.
