*IMPORTANT* Students will not be issued a textbook except in special circumstances. Copies available in Library.
Description:
Course is designed to introduce students to the Human body properties which make it unique and how the different body systems interact with one another.
Goals:
1. Students will learn fundamental scientific principles and the scientific method.
2. Students will discover principles that make Humans unique.
3. Students will learn to work independently and cooperatively for success.
4. Students will develop skills to inquire about interactions of different body systems.
Materials:
• Two dry erase markers (per semester)
• Spiral notebook
• Three ring binder
• Pencils and pens (blue or black ink)
• Colored pencils!

Tardy Policy:
• Tardy is defined as not being in your seat working on bell work
when the tardy bell rings.
• Consequences are as follows:
o 1st tardy: marked in teacher book; verbal warning
o 2nd-4th tardies: detention and notify parents for each tardy
o 5th tardy: referral
 1: Recovery – 2 hours after school on Monday
 2: Saturday School – 4 hours on a Saturday morning
ÔÇß 3: Suspension
o 10th tardy: student will be dropped with an F in class
WGHS Food/Drink Policy:
NO glass containers and drinks must have a secure lid; students must clean up after themselves.
Assignment procedures:
• Assignments are turned in to your period’s folder at the beginning of the period unless otherwise specified. All assignments are expected to be turned in on time.
o Excused-If absent; you will have as many days as you were absent to make up missed work or assessments.
o Unexcused-You are still required to make up the work with no guarantee of a grade.
• Get daily assignments from the class website/classmate if you missed.
• Late work:
o 10% will be taken off for late work
Teacher expectations:
1. Respect yourself; others; and the classroom.
2. Do your best on every activity and be patient while others try their best.
3. Ask questions for clarification.
4. Use the right voice for the situation; and listen while others are speaking.
5. Minimize interruptions to the learning environment of the classroom.
Classroom procedures:
1. Beginning class: Be in your seat and working on bell work when the bell rings.
2. Restroom: Sign out and take the restroom pass only at appropriate times.
3. Teacher signal: Stop everything and listen at the signal. Signal Teacher stands in front of desk says Don’t Worry; Students say Be Happy
4. Discussion: Only one person speaks at a time. Raise your hand to ask a question or to make a comment.
5. After missing a day: Get daily assignments from class website.
Classroom rules:
1. Follow the rules and policies of SUSD and WGHS.
2. No cell phones or electronic devices unless given permission-THIS IS YOUR ONLY WARNING/AUTOMATIC REFFERAL.
3. Follow directions the first time they are given.
4. Keep hands; feet; objects and unkind remarks to yourself.
5. Respect our classroom.
