May be taken as an Honors Class
Students will learn how to make Wooden Toys; Boxes; Cut-outs; Small Cabinets and more. Students will learn about the wonderful world of woodworking and how developing these skills relates to other subject areas such as Art; Architecture; Design; Economics; Engineering; Math; and Science and participate in student organization Skills/USA units.
Requisites for Honors Classification: The Honors portion of this class requires students to write a research paper and perform an in-class multi-component presentation along with completing an appropriately challenging finished product of quality workmanship. An “Exit Test” from the Woodworking/Carpentry Industry may also be required. Students are only allowed in the Optional Honors portion of this class with the application to; review by; and permission of the instructor. Freshmen students must also be enrolled in one other Honors class. Sophomores; Juniors; and Seniors must be enrolled in two other Honors classes. Students must maintain a letter grade of “B” or higher to stay in the Optional Honors area of this class.
