Course description

ELA 12 is designed for students to closely read and analyze literary and informational texts so that they can achieve a better understanding of how authors use language to send a message or promote pleasure for their readers. While reading; students must dissect a text in order to glean an understanding of its structure; style; theme; and purpose as well as uncovering its tone; symbolism; figurative language; and imagery. Students explore texts that help them better make connections to themselves and to the outer world. Students write a variety of formal and informal essays with the purpose of preparing them for college.
